21 December

The lecturers will talk about some of the highlights in the life of the abbey, its four construction periods and the place of the rose in flamboyant architecture.
This lecture is being given to mark the publication, under the auspices of SHAS, of the book: "L'abbaye prémontrée Notre-Dame de Lieu-Restauré 1138-2024 Histoire et Archéologie de l'abbaye du Moyen Âge à nos jours". The authors, Jean-Luc François, president of the association for the preservation of the abbey, and Morgan Hinard, a historian with the firm Aquilon, set out in this book the archaeological and architectural observations that make it possible to reconstruct the chronicle of the building from its origins to the French Revolution, and compare this architectural evolution with the historical and religious context. In a dialogue between history and architecture, archaeological experience and archival research, the authors evoke some of the key moments in the life of the abbey, its four construction periods and the place of the rose in flamboyant architecture.
