From 19 October to 16 February

Princess Louise (1812-1850), the first daughter of Louis-Philippe, Duke of Orléans and later King of the French, was a key figure in European Romanticism. Her meticulous education, with its emphasis on the arts, history, languages and the sciences, prepared her to occupy a place of choice at the heart of society and even, with her father's accession to the throne, to assume the destiny of a crowned head. As Princess of France and then Queen of Belgium, Louise d'Orléans became the romantic protagonist of an epic romance: the emergence of an improbable kingdom whose voice was to join the concert of European nations.

The story of Louise d'Orléans, that of a French princess whose romantic life came to an end in the "flat country", will find a special echo in this exhibition: that of new insights, based on renewed research, which will enable us to put this forgotten queen in her rightful place. The exhibition devoted to this little-known female figure will bring her back into the limelight for a wide audience, in France as much as in Belgium, thanks to an exceptional cross-border partnership that will bring out of storage real masterpieces, very often unknown, from prestigious collections, notably the Royal Collection of Belgium.

Exhibition from 19 October 2024 to 16 February 2025.
Venue: Cabinet d'arts graphiques and Galerie de Psyché.
Price: Included in the 1-day ticket.
