Nestling at the end of a footpath, the Glachoirs are a real nugget, a hidden treasure known to few...
After a short walk, you'll have the impression of entering another world, surrounded by gigantic blocks of stone erected there a century ago, abandoned by the stonemasons and reinvested by nature. This wild nature seems to come straight from... the South of France! Pine trees grow at the top of the blocks, and orchids, which are very rare and protected, dot the ground in fine weather.

Here you are in a former open-air stone quarry, now a haven of peace and climbing ground in one. Climbing routes have been set up on the quarry faces: bring your own equipment! Whatever your level, you'll enjoy the panoramic views from a height of just a few metres...

To preserve nature and ensure that this site is passed on to future generations, remember to take your rubbish with you, and take care not to damage or pick the flora.

NOTES
So as not to inconvenience the residents of Rue des carrières, a free car park has been set up for walkers and climbers: go to Route de Cramoisy, a few metres from the start of the footpath leading to Les Glachoirs (compulsory). A map is available.

Les Glachoirs is a private site with free access thanks to a partnership with the Conservatoire d'Espaces Naturels des Hauts-de-France, the Communauté d'Agglomération Creil Sud Oise and the municipalities of Saint-Vaast-lès-Mello and Montataire.
