No other city than Senlis could better welcome the memory of this North African cavalry which has occupied a special place in the French army since 1830! Indeed the Spahis regiment garrisoned there for 30 years (Moroccan and Algerian garrisons). Installed in 1991 in an old house, the Spahis museum brings together the memories of its extraordinary past. On the ground floor are exhibited trumpet flames, pennants, harness elements, tougs of Turkish origin. Upstairs, uniforms (scarlet bournous, madder jackets), personal memories and various images recall a century of cavalry.
